Dr. Sylvester Caraway Jr. was born in Los Angeles, California in 1956, but grew up in the city of Compton, California. After his graduation from Gardena High School in 1974, he joined the Air Force. He served on active duty in the United States Air Force from 1974 to 1994 as a Combat Cameraman. As a warrior himself, he first served as an Administration Clerk for 3 years and then transferred to become a Combat Cameraman on flying status for the rest of his career. He truly enjoyed being a Combat Cameraman where he traveled the world, to places he would never have the chance to do on his own, such as the Far East, Spain, Cuba, Norway, Greenland, Iceland, Central and South America, Africa, Europe, United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, and Turkey. After he retired from the United States Air Force, he finished enrollment at Sacramento City College, moved on to California State University, and accomplished his Masters, Masters with honors, and PhD in Philosophy at Griffith University, Nathan campus, Queensland, Australia in nine years.
